High Vibes 2001
The High Vibes Music Festival first began in 2001. In that year 11 venues hosted over 40 acts including Frank Jones, Doug De Vries, Kavisha Mazzella & Root Bound System. For those who attended, around 5000 people in total, the event marked a moment in which music, sunshine & smiles filled the northern sky. It was the start of things to come and a day which united the local music loving community of Northcote.

In 2002 the word had spread and High Vibes started to welcome guests from far and wide. The sun shone again, music and smiles abound, and the day yet again went from noon til night with a sense of merriment and excitement. Feature performers in 2002 included Jamie Oehlers, Adam Simmons Trio, Sonikete Flamenco, and Oscar.

High Vibes 2003 - Higher & Higher
Entering its third year in 2003, having truly moved from a pipe dream to reality, High Vibes 2003 went forward again, Higher & Higher! As the name suggests the whole day and night of music was geared to move and groove its audiences to a higher state of being, and after 12 hours of quality performances all those attending had reached higher ground. Performers in 2003 included TZU, Mick Thomas, Mia Dyson, Claire Bowditch, Music vs Physics, Vardos, Oxo Cubans & much much more...

High Vibes 2004 - Rise Up!
In 2004 High Vibes continued to rise. In 2004 High Vibes became an event listed as a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and with the increase in profile and reputation of the High Street precinct for music & the arts people from all walks of life again came together in a day and night of music and celebration of Melbourne's musical diversity and depth of talent. Over 60 musicians played at the festival including, Architecture in Helsinki, Chris Wilson, Wolf Gramm, Music vs Physics, Mick Thomas, and much much more... In the week after the festival High Vibes received the coveted 'Best Special Event' award from the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

High Vibes 2005 - Welcome to Tropical Northcote
The fifth installment of the High Vibes festival, ‘High Vibes 2005 - Welcome to Tropical Northcote’, opened the 05/06 Spring/ Summer festival circuit with an enormous range of music, performances and mad antics. Having dubbed the day ‘Welcome to Tropical Northcote’ the Gods looked kindly on the festival goers as floodgates of sunshine gave those who had trekked to the hill the chance to soak up the sights and sounds of another year of music & merriment.
Once again the festival was host to a wide range of highly acclaimed artists - Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males, Legends of Motorsport, Ground Component, Music vs Physics, Carlos X Panguana, Des Peres, Silver Ray, Symbiosis, Kutcha Edwards, Spin Cycle 2, the Tropical Northcote Dancers and more and more and more with over 70 performances throughout the day and into the eve.

Now in the year 006, the High Vibes Music Festival is set once again to take you on a musical journey, a chance to see all sorts of musical expression, a chance to seek out genre’s of music that you may never normally see, a chance to immerse yourself in the wide variety of beats and bleeps as you enter the High Vibes 2006 Sound Safari!
Special features in 006 include:
The World Music Stage proudly supported by Arts Victoria at the newly refurbished Northcote Town Hall
The Family Friendly Green Hub with Solar Powered/Bio Fuel driven Double Decker Bus putting out tunes all day & hosting performances on the hour every hour from 11-7 & more features to be announced very soon!!!
